Welcome to Wachovia. If you’ve recently moved or want to change banks, it’s not easy to know where to start. That’s why we’ve developed the Wachovia Switch Kit, a step-by-step checklist. It will help simplify your transition while ensuring your complete satisfaction from the beginning.
The Wachovia Switch Kit is the easy way to change your checking account.
2. Stop actively using your former account. As soon as possible, you should stop writing checks, initiating payments, and using your ATM card or Check Card from your former checking account.
3. Let us switch your direct deposit for you. Let us notify your employer, or other source that deposits funds into your old account, that you would like to switch banks. To set up direct deposit, you will need:
4. Make payments just the way you like. Now that you’re switching banks, it’s a great time to think about how you would like to make your mortgage, cell phone bill, and other payments.
In addition to cash, there are a number of ways to make payments, including:
Check—A traditional way to make payments.
Automatic Debit—Billers like utilities or insurance providers will automatically debit your checking account for the bill. Provide your routing number and account number from your checking account and make sure you have sufficient funds to cover the debit (ACH) on the payment due date.
Check Card—Any biller who accepts Visa® check cards will take this form of payment. Just provide your Check Card number and expiration date. And there’s an added bonus. You can earn rewards points when you register in Wachovia Possibilities Rewards®.
Online BillPay—Make payments online to almost any individual or biller in the United States with free Wachovia Online BillPay. Plus, pay recurring bills or reschedule one-time payments up to one year in advance.
5. Complete the Payments/Transfers Worksheet. To help you identify checks, automatic payments and transfers you were making with a former checking account and to help you decide which payment methods work best for you going forward, use this helpful Payments/Transfers Worksheet.
6. Establish or change your Payments/Transfers. Try contacting your billers online or by phone. If acceptable, you can contact companies by mail. You will need:
Your latest bill statements
Your new Wachovia bank account number and routing number
7. Close your former bank account. Make sure all outstanding checks and debits have cleared before closing your old account. Contact your former bank for instructions on closing your account. If acceptable, you can use the form and provide:
